Ever wondered what 12kg of jewellery looks like?

Well, wonder no more - it looks like this!

I did feel a little sorry for the delivery guy. It was very well-packed and I had no idea what was inside. These bulk eBay purchases can be great -or they can be not so great.

Only one way to find out.

And all is revealed

This is a real mixture and is taking a lot of untangling. On the positive there was a lot of jewellery that had never been worn, some was still in its original packaging and I've only found a few broken pieces. That's a great result.

It's mostly modern costume jewellery, the big bulky sort from high street stores like Next and M&S. It's in pretty clean condition too which is always a plus. Even so I will be washing and cleaning everything in here.

A little disappointed. I was hoping some more vintage would have been in there and to be honest there is little here I want to reuse.

It's such a glorious day (or was when I started, I suspect a storm is on its way) I thought I'd do the sorting and washing in the garden.

This is after about 3 hours of sorting and cleaning. I think I've found most of the bracelets and they've been checked for condition, washed and are drying in the sun. There must be a hundred or so.

Now to tackle the necklaces and earrings. Sadly most of the earrings have lost their partners but I can repurpose a couple into charms to add to a bracelet.

So all in all a bit of a disappointment. I've kept one or two pieces to wear myself, a couple more to break up (some pretty freshwater pearls) but the rest I'll be moving on as soon as possible. Village sales are not usually a great venue for me but for this type of thing they are great, so I'll be booking a table at the next village fete, and hope to make a lot of people very happy.

Ps - if you are called Doris, I have a lovely silver plate cuff with your name on! Let me know....
