A peek behind the scenes.....

Ever wondered what lies behind those wonderful pieces of jewellery you find ?

Well here is a chance to see a few snapshots of a small jeweller's life. My name is Caroline and I've been making jewellery for a good few years now. At FWJ, we try to be as ethical as possible. I use almost 100% recycled silver and I'm incredibly picky about the sources of my stones. This knocks out a good many unfortunately, but I'm always on the lookout for broken or unwanted jewellery from which I can harvest beads and stones. Anything usable is cleaned up and resold, given away to crafters or if it fits my style then re-used by me. You'll find a few lovely sterling silver rescues in our Preloved category.

Please do take a look. Even ethically made and sourced jewellery comes with a carbon footprint so the most ethical purchases are preloved. Pieces here have at a minimum been cleaned and polished, whilst others have been completely reworked. Broken brooches, for example, may find themselves a second life as a pendant or even as earring components.
